About the role
Fermi is an AI tutoring startup building a product to make personalized tutoring accessible to students. The AI Engineer will develop and operate agentic tutoring workflows and production systems for evaluation, retrieval, personalization, and multimodal learning.
What you'll do
- Build agentic tutoring, grading, retrieval, and personalization workflows
- Harden AI prototypes into scalable, observable production systems
- Optimize latency and cost through caching, batching, streaming, and fallbacks
- Create evaluation sets, regression checks, and quality gates
- Implement monitoring, reliability, and safety guardrails
- Own features from implementation and deployment through monitoring and iteration
