About the role
WEX's data engineering team modernizes legacy database systems and builds AI-native data infrastructure. The Senior Database Engineer refactors SQL Server systems, develops data pipelines and vector retrieval infrastructure, and creates AI-powered database tooling.
What you'll do
- Analyze and refactor complex SQL Server stored procedures
- Optimize queries, execution plans, and database indexes
- Build embedding pipelines and vector database implementations
- Develop ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration patterns
- Create infrastructure-as-code for database provisioning
- Build automated tests for migrations and refactored procedures
